I am the second oldest of eleven grand-children of Sidonia and Frederick Wolf. My grand-parents moved to Orange Lake in 1946, purchasing over 400 acres of land that included a summer cottage rental business at the north end of the lake on Lakeside Road. In 1948, my grandfather built the newer house up closer to the road, and sometime later the cottages were moved up from the lake shore, and additional cottages were built for a total of 13 units in 10 cottages. Wolf's Bungalows operated seasonally from Memorial Day to Labor Day well into the 1980's, attracting folks from around the area, many of whom came back year after year for their summer vacation at Orange Lake.

My mother (some of you may have known "Dolly") was the middle sister of three, all of whom lived at Orange Lake from childhood until they married. All thee are graduates of Wallkill High School, and my mother went on to Cortland State Teacher's College. My cousins and I spent nearly every summer there until we went off to college, and still visit regularly to this day. We all treasure this experience and are blessed to have had the opportunity to live at and experience the beauty of Orange Lake for many years.

My grand-parents sold off 300 acres of the property north of the lake to the Monti brothers (Monti's farm) many years ago, and an additional 14 acres on the west side of Lakeside Rd were sold in the late 1990's/early 2000 to local developers to become what is now known as the Max Way subdivision consisting of 9 custom homes. With the recent sale of the 5-acre homesite built in 1948, the only parcels remaining in the family are the original homestead and 70 acres of wetlands encompassing the entire north end of Orange Lake.

Although I currently reside in WA state, I have lived in more than 2 dozen cities and towns across the U.S. in both my personal and business life, including Juneau and Sitka, Alaska. I also lived in Germany and Belgium when I was very young and my Dad was in the Army. My three adult children are spread out across the county in CA, OR and SC, and I have five beautiful grand-children. I would like all of them to be able to experience Orange Lake as I did.

These wetlands are now the focus of my passion to continue the legacy of Orange Lake my grand-parents started back in 1946.
