Orange Lake boasts approximately 400 acres of freshwater, over 100 acres of which consists of forested freshwater wetlands. This forested freshwater habitat is home to a multitude of unique flora and fauna. To begin our project OLWC will conduct a "bio-blitz" - a comprehensive biological survey to identify the flora and fauna or Orange Lake. In addition OLWC will conduct a survey of endangered and threatened species which may include species such as the bog turtle and the Indiana bat. One of these bats has been captured and tagged at nearby Stewart Airport suggesting the bat may call Orange Lake its home.
